Evangelism

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 28:16-20

What is Evangelism?

Evangelism is spreading the gospel or the good news of Jesus Christ to all who will listen. The Holy Spirit then can change the heart. The good news is that Jesus died for our sins, and He wants all to be saved. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God has raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. We must let everyone know that Jesus lived, died, rose again, and is presently sitting at the right hand of God the Father being our mediator, advocator and intercessor, and waiting for all to ask Him into his/her heart, making Him Lord and Savior of his/her life.

Commitment

The 3 P's of evangelism are Passion, Prayer, and Persistence. A person must study to show themselves approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (II Timothy 2:15)

The ways we can do this is by taking advantage of the teaching ministries at the church, and spend quiet time in prayer and in the Word. The Word must be spread to every nation every kingdom, every country, every city, and state. God ordered it. We must obey it. God desires that no one perish. How can one hear the Word if we do not evangelize?

Prayer and Evangelism

Prayer is an essential discipline to be an effective evangelist.?Just as Jesus strengthened himself on the mountain with intimate conversation with His Father, it is a must that we also take time daily to commune with God. We must move from general prayer to specific prayer for evangelism and discipleship.?The call is that we pray for hearts to be changed by Christ, for others to know Jesus Christ personally as their Lord and Savior, and to grow disciples. We must pray in connection with fasting and fulfill the scripture requirement for eliminating anxiety and have boldness in witnessing for Christ.

How Do I Get Started?

Everyone is welcome to come and join us in spreading the good news!!

  • Look around | Your mission field is right where you live, work, or go to school.
  • Look up | Pray each day for people and those that will cross your path
  • Look out | Find ways to cultivate friendship with people and establish common interest
  • Look forward | Seek an opportunity to share with people and to invite them to church events
  • Look after | Follow up with those who respond to Christ

As we pray for God's direction in our evangelistic effort, we are reminded that we didn't choose ourselves, but God called us. Only through continual prayer can we hope to gain any insight into God?s purpose for our lives, and become effective witness.
